Roya Khadjavi Projects
For Asia NOW 2024, Roya Khadjavi Projects proposes a major presentation of works on paper by Maryam Khosrovani titled Seve. These minimalist works are the results of a long-term research done on the survival of certain ecosystems in Iran where traditional architectural elements such as water basins found in Persian Gardens, merge with nature through water, a most valuable element threatened by global warming in the Middle East. These works often embellished with Lapis Lazuli pigments, needle works, and silver and silk embroideries have a microscopic subtlety and a liquefication quality which resonate with the artist’s fading memories of her country of birth.
In addition, we propose a small selection of figurative portraits on cardboard and wood boards, by Atieh Sohrabi, embellished with Persian flowers and patterns. These references to Persian gardens frequented by Dark eyed beauties complement the minimalist presentation by Maryam Khosrovani.
