For Asia NOW 2024, Felix Frachon Gallery presents The Bride of Tehran.
In Tehran’s old Mokhberoddoleh district, a few historic buildings remain amidst a modernized city where most old structures have either collapsed or been replaced. Behind the worn windows of a heritage building, wedding dresses catch the eye, symbolizing a thriving tradition in a country where marriage remains central despite increasingly fragile unions.
The rundown “shopping center” housing these boutiques is frequented by young tailors, who work surrounded by relics from another era, joking among themselves as the day fades and the streets of Tehran sink into night, filling the district with a nostalgic poetry.
