Ghost of Today and Tomorrow
Presented by Art & Ideas (Visual Arts Commission of the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia)
Ahaad Alamoudi
Saudi Arabia
Saudi artist Ahaad Alamoudi will present a recurring activation titled Ghost of Today and Tomorrow. Engaging with sound and light as vectors of memory and transmission, Alamoudi’s work explores perception, heritage, and the temporal friction between the contemporary and the ancestral punctuating the fair with moments of sensorial disruption and reflection.
Ahaad Alamoudi is a multidisciplinary artist traversing video, photography, print installation, performance, and sculpture. Drawing on ethnographic research and vernacular digital modes, she engages the languages of representation to deconstruct clichés, visual tropes, and conventional narratives to question how culture is continually reimagined and reformed. Her work reanimates national symbols, such as falcons, folk music, and dance, by shifting them from original contexts into new, multilayered planes of meaning. She holds an MA from the Royal College of Art, London (2017), where she is currently completing a PhD. Her work has appeared in the 55th Venice Biennale (2013); Bienalsur in Riyadh, Buenos Aires and Jeddah (2021); and was featured at the Global Art Forum.
