Third Space
Sans titre
For Asia Now 2026, Sans titre presents two monumental textile paintings by Palestinian artist Aysha E Arar (b. 1993), “A Worm in Love” and “He was everywhere in my DNA,” suspended in the entrance hall of the Monnaie de Paris.
Moving freely between painting, poetry, music and storytelling, E Arar creates a deeply personal universe inhabited by hybrid creatures, imaginary beings, and bodies that resist fixed identities. Drawing from Palestinian folklore, dreams, and her own lived experience, her practice blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction, the human and the nonhuman, the intimate and the collective.
Across both paintings, red emerges as a powerful visual thread. At once suggestive of blood, love, desire, and violence, it flows through entangled bodies and organic forms, expressing the fragile yet inseparable relationship between vulnerability and strength. Painted directly onto loose, unstretched fabrics, these works evoke veils, skins, shrouds, or flags.
Suspended within the monumental architecture of the Monnaie de Paris, these fragile, floating surfaces open onto alternative worlds, offering a space for imagination and resistance against oppression and displacement, while affirming the enduring possibilities of love and freedom.

Aysha E Arar
Aysha E Arar is a Palestinian artist born in 1993. She received her BFA with honors from the HaMidrasha Faculty of Arts – Beit Berl College in 2018.
Her practice spans multiple disciplines, including painting, video, performance, and poetry. Arar develops a form of resistance through art, using fiction and poetry to engage with the conditions of Palestinian existence, its history and its future.
