Artnet, in partnership with Asia Now Paris, presents “New Frontiers and Fresh Challenges: The Future of the Art Market in Asia and the Asian Diaspora,” a panel exploring burgeoning fine art trade across Asia as well as the growing presence of an Asian diaspora. This event marks the launch of The Asia Pivot, Artnet's new bi-weekly spotlight on the Asian art market, available exclusively to Artnet PRO members.

Taipei and New York-based art advisor Gladys Lin and Seoul-based collector JaeMyung Noh will join Artnet’s London Correspondent and Asia market expert Vivienne Chow in conversation at the Parisian fair on October 19, 2023. Panelists will discuss, among other topics, the current state of art market in Asia; the role of regional fairs; the rise of the Asian collector and how their tastes differentiate them from western buyers; the relationship between Asia and its diasporic art communities; and how collaboration across Asian markets, fairs and other institutions can “lift all boats,” even amid macroeconomic concerns.

As the art-fair calendar in Asia becomes increasingly crowded, including by several events with global ambitions, it’s as important as ever to address the role the market and its participants play in the global market—as well as what role they want to play.

Gladys Lin

The founder of Gladys Lin Projects in Taipei and New York advises clients in the East and West alike, and has placed works by El Anatsui, Antony Gormley, James Turrell, and Anish Kapoor, among others, with Asian collectors.

JaeMyung Noh

The education entrepreneur began collecting editioned works and art toys while still in high school. Now 33, JaeMyung and his wife, the pianist SoHyun Park, have assembled a collection of over 200 artworks, with a focus on figurative painting and sculpture by emerging and mid-career artists from Asia and internationally.
