Heiner Wemhöner

Entrepreneur and Art Collector

Heiner Wemhöner (* 13 August 1950) is a German entrepreneur and art collector.

After studying economics, he joined the family business in 1979 and became managing partner in 1987.  Under his leadership, "Wemhöner Surface Technologies" developed into the global market and technology leader for machinery and equipment for the finishing of wood-based materials. In 2005, Wemhöner founded the first production site in China, in 2020 the second.

In October 2021, his birthplace Herford - which is still his place of residence and the headquarters of his company - made him an honorary citizen. In 2022, Heiner Wemhöner received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon for his services to art, culture and international understanding. In China, too, Heiner Wemhöner has been combining business, cultural and social commitment since 2005, which the city of Changzhou already thanked him for in 2009 and the province of Jiangsu in 2014 by awarding him honorary citizenship.

Heiner Wemhöner is a co-founder of the Friends of the Marta  Museum, Herford and is still its chairman.

Heiner Wemhöner is currently having a historic ballroom in Berlin restored, which, once completed, will serve as the home of his art collection, but also as a place for cultural encounters.
